CHRISTMAS TREES
BALSAM FIRIntroducing our Balsam Fir!!
Aka the Circus Tree, aka the Grinch tree. We call them this because they tend to grow inward, instead of outward like most other species. This makes for some crazy looking trees sometimes!! They are native to the North East coast of the United States and Canada. They are our fastest growing species, with plant to harvest being about 5 years. They are also a fuller tree, with not a lot of space between branches. Their needles tend to wrap all the way around their branches, adding to the fuller affect. Here is how we rate Balsam Fir: Color: Lighter Green Needles Fragrant: 5/5 STARS Needle Retention: 2/5 STARS (they tend to lose their needles sooner, even when watered well) Branch Strength: 2/5 (not great with heavy ornaments, lighter ones are encouraged) Popularity: 3/5 STARS |
TURKISH & NORDMANN FIRIntroducing our Turkish Fir & Nordmann Fir!!
These species are VERY similar. If you get either of these trees, the following info applies; They are native to Turkey and Russia. They have a symmetrical habit, meaning their branches grow directly opposite of each other. This is what gives them that natural “cone”, Christmas tree shape. They are a slower growing species, with plant to harvest being 8 - 10 years. They are also a fuller tree with not a lot of space between branches. Their needles are flat and tend to wrap all the way around their branches, adding to the fuller affect. Here is how we rate Turkish Fir & Nordmann Fir: Color: Darker Evergreen Needles Fragrant: 3/5 STARS Needle Retention: 5/5 STARS Branch Strength: 5/5 STARS (break out the heavy ornaments!!)
